Please forgive my noobness, i'm a 2 stroke novice. Been building cars my entire life and i've never owned anything with a 2 stroke engine. But anyway, i bought a single person dune buggy a few months back that had a 340 Enticer engine in it. Well it had some carb issues so i went ahead and found a really nice 81 Exciter 440 sled for real cheap. So i installed the engine in the buggy, hooked everything up the same way it was in the sled but i noticed something while it was running. I never see the oil go up into the injection unit, but it smokes like it's getting oil. Should i be seeing the oil go up from the tank into the unit. Is it possible i have my tank mounted to low for the pump to draw it up. Here some pics

Another thing i need to know, are those 2 ports on the injection unit a feed - return type pump or do both of those ports feed each cylinder. I'm guessing it's a feed return since one side has a check valve and the other doesn't but correct me if i'm wrong.

The 2 big ports on the pump are feed and return. You MUST!!!!!! have your oil tank mounted with the bottom of the tank above level to the oil pump. It needs to be gravity fed to be able to properly bleed and operate the system. Those pumps will not draw oil uphill and if you run it very long the way you have it setup now you will destroy your engine.
