help with shocks......llllllll??????

i'm looking to long travel my 2001 srx. i found a good deal on some. here is my question. can i take the long shock off a 2003 srx and the mid shock off a 2002 viper and make my srx a long travel? also can i use the 2003 rx1 front shocks for the srx too? let me know what you guys think. i know i have to make the limiter straps longer and get the spacer for the transfer rods. but will the shocks work... let me know thanks guys you rock. :idea: :!:

Well Yamaha never made a 03 srx.Do you mean a 03 rx1?You can use any rear and center shocks from a Viper,RX1,Sx-r to long travel your srx.I think the rear spring rates may be all the same.Im not totally sure on that so you would have to check.They may give a stiffer or softer ride than what you have now.I do know for sure the center shock springs are diferant between each of those three models.The rx1 center is close to the same rate spring the srx has.The viper or sx-r would be softer.theres no need to change limter straps on the 00-02 srx.They use the exact same limter strap the long travel skids do.You could use your stock rods and change a shim.You will get more travel but if you want to use all the travel the longer shocks offer you will need to get Maxx rods for the 00-02 srx (these are 1/4 longer than stock rods) or get some transfer rods from a long travel skid.
 
Findings

I looked into this, the center to center distance out of the shock out of the sled are 17 1/2" and the eye width on the top is 1 3/16" and the bottom is 1 5/16"....you would have to remove about an 1/8" to make these work if the centers would work out.... or machine the eye width to fit.
