I just pick up this unfinished project. It is a 540 Vmax being made into a tripple. It has been sitting in this condition since the late 80's. I would like to finish it but want to gather some info first. Does anyone have any experience with this animal?

Thanks, Phil (opsled)

Thanks for the info Monty. I will check with Delaughter. I know he didn't do this one as I know the guy that did it. The cylinders on this were scored ones used just for mockup but the crankcases and crankshafts used were new. I will have to figure out the crank as 1 and 3 are at 180 to #2 which wont work. I will need to get them all at 120 and find an ignition system that will work. The head needs to be finished as well and I'm not sure if the way he started on it is best or if I should do something different. The rest of this project should be fairly staight forward other than making it fit into something. There is't room in a Vmax 540 chassie for another cylinder without doing some extensive mods and pipes fill be a very tight fit.

Delaughter never did any Vmax 540 motors into triples that I know of. He did alot of 81 SRX 440's into triples and he did do one 81 SRX 440 into a four cylinder with 540 cylinders on it.

Actually Dave did a few of them including the one he raced for a couple years. He also did Kollman's which was a 4 cylinder. The only difference between the 440 and 540 were the tougher polished rods and crank parts. He would be the guy to talk to.
