O.K., here's the deal, I have a 1997 700sx triple, I want to know how much hp I can get out of this thing, it now has slp pipes, 1 1/4 camoplast track, I am getting reed spacers this weekend and hopefully reeds, it has lightweight slp skis, 3 inch handlebar riser, what are the best reeds to get, I am trying a set of 89L weights but don't know what spring to use, I have 52/42, 47/41,47/39,48/40, helix's, which one or should I buy a different one, also, which spring should I get for the secondary, I do not want to big bore it. a good tuned and ported sx700 can get aorund 145hp on pump gas if u know what ur doin. its around 112hp stock. pipes add around 10-15 depending on the brand maybe a bit more. they usaly claim more but without seeing a dyno chart from a independent i dont belive it. the head gasket mod can add 3-4 hp and shaving the head a few more. but keep in mind u lower the reliability by touching the message. im not sure how much porting adds depends on what kind u get and who does it and if they know what they are doin. also reed spacers make a big differance for reponce but the same can be done by doin the reed stoper notch. also bost bottles ad mid range HP not not alot top end HP. they are expencive and u only gte good results if u have piped and ported motor. also have to becareful to have good clamps like i didnt and burn down ur motor. theres a whole section in the tech paged on the home page on sx and sxr mods.

as for clutchin theres a few gurues here that can def help u like mrviper700 and srxmagic thow them a PM they should be glad to help u

also every mod changed the clucthin along with it. so they will need to knwo what u have done or plan on doin.
 
Run the 89L weights empty with the 47/39 helix. Add rivets if you need less rpm,s.

I got 174.5 HP out of my SX in prostock form as a 700. You've really got to spin the motor in order to find new power. If you want to have good, reliable horsepower for the trail, the things listed are about all you can do without making it an 800. If you want to race it only, you have more options.
 
the SLP's put out 131 HP on the dyno (that was 4 HP more than the ALMIGHTY PI's and Bender) but who knows. Its around 130 HP piped.

That sounds really high....
 
I had it dynoed at Bender and Northeast Ohio Dyno and came up with the same number. The motor was sold to "700sx" on this site. He can verify the power. I had to spin the motor at about 10,100 to get the power.
 
Don't waste money on reed spacers, do the reed stop notch in the tech section. It will give better throttle response. A good set of v force 2 will be even better. Get mr Viper to trail port it for you and it will be a real hhot. Maxdlx
