I am doing a black SRX and wanted to know if anyone had powdercoated the blue heads a different color?

Thats a good question snowdust. I need to know the same thing, after I heated mine up tell they are a blueish black color. If you find anything out let me know.

You can just bead blast the blue off and either leave them aluminum to match the engine or paint them with hi heat black engine enamel, if you paint them with the engine paint they will hold up no problem.

Hmmm Well now that you say that... Do you think the engine enamel would hold up on the jugs also? I will be having this motor ported so I will have it all apart anyway.

yeah there is a guy over on HCS with a red zr900 block and heads and i think he just used the high temp enamel paint

Maybe I'll take a pic and photoshop it to see what it would look like. Maybe the jugs would be too much. I'll post a pic if I use photoshop.

ya, it holds up good, I would suggest you beadblast the cylinders first and then paint them and bake them as per the directions on the can, do this when your wife isnt home.....LOL!! you can also bake them outside with a gas grill with aluminum foil on the grates.
If you look on the site here theres some pics of my "back in black" 2001 srx, I bead blasted the heads to match the engine and painted all the bolt heads black to match the sled. I think its in the photo section.

Should be alot easier to keep the motor clean too. It can be hard to clean build-up and stains off the bare aluminum.

Yamaha should have gave the option of black for the SRX.
