I have a 2001 SRX that I am considering parting with for a new sled this year. Have heard many people say you will get far more out of an older sled by parting it out rather than selling it whole. While I find this a little hard to believe I would be curious to hear every ones opinion.

The sled as I said is a 2001 SRX 700 with under 4000 miles on it. It has an M-10 suspension but is otherwise stock. Sled is in very good shape, no cracks or broken parts and has a new track - 500 miles on it and was gone through very carefully last year the dealer - new drive bearings, chain etc.

I would say that you should be able to get more for it in parts than as whole. However, this would be true as long as you are OK with considering your time as "free" to tear it a part, sell, and shipping each part. I know my time is always free... Just the motor and M10 could be worth as much as $1,500 to $2,000. Good luck with whatever way you go. G.B.

Well... I am parting out my 99 600 sx with about 15,000 km on it and so far i've got about $2000 and still have half of the sled left, some parts were aftermarket and worth quite a bit, they were sold a while back. The only thing is that once you get rid of the common parts that everybody needs, or aftermarket parts that people want, you have to sit on the other ones for a while. How often have you heard of somebody needing a footwell or a ski saddle etc?

SRX parts go for good $ and are in a lot higher demand than SX parts too, but like said above, it can be hard to keep up with the sales when you are busy... I'm falling a little behind myself on PM's. Just make sure you have the time and motivation to tear stuff apart, keep up on your day job, and make timely shipments after payments are made.

It was worth it to me IMO

I parted out my 97 700 sx for a little over 4000, as a whole sled I was offered 2400. Maxdlx
