Hi, 2003 Viper bone stock. I've had this sled from day one and I've never been one to modify my toys. However I'm thinking about getting a little more speed both acceleration and top end with out effecting reliability. What would you guys do for under $1000 and if you had $2000 what mods would you make?
Thanks for your help. (I may do the rear suspension regardless of engine mods)

Clutching is the only thing I can think of that definitely doesnt affect reliability. But it definately makes a difference.

1-Skid
2-Clutching
3-Track (Studded or Not..... That All Depends On You)

That would be my order.

get your self a 53/43 helix from cb performance and green secd spring.

I would get new skis usi spx or razor. from Richmotorsports

and definatly a new 1" 9830 track

and if you want to spend alot get a new skid, i wish i had the cash for a new skid

Doesnt cost alot to put a better skid on your pro action sled. Theres a few guys on here running Doo and Cat skids on there Yami's and from my readings they ride great compared to stock. Plus used M10's can be found for cheap, just have to keep an eye out.

lol well depends on what you think is alot, cheapo skid for $600 then you may have to rebuild the shocks.

You can find a used skid from another manufacturer (Polaris edge skids work great by the way, and n2oiroc has a template for installing in a yamaha) for WAY less than $600 bucks. More like half that, and you could sell your stocker for a little less than that.

If your looking for accelleration and top speed get a set of hel clickers with the right combo it's unreal accelleration over the 53-43 helix and about 10mph gain on top.

pro116,
I just picked up an 02 viper stock except it has an M10 and a 1 1/4 paddle track. If I pick up some heel clickers what would you suggest for aggressive trail riding set up?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone, sounds like I will start with clutching and keep an eye out for a new skid. The track is studded and I will go with a 1" track when it gives out. Reading previous posts I believe the dealer has tightened the track to much as my buddies 98XT700 now keeps up with me. Any suggestions on how loose I should run it?

1. Heel Clickers
2. 48/34 Helix
3. Torque Limiter
4. Over size wheels (I've even got some used ones if you are interested)
5. 4th wheel kit
6. Marginal snow kit
7. New belt

A lot less then $1000 and worth every penny.
