I've been searching all the old threads for a better clutching set-up for the past few evenings without finding a good set-up for my gearing and was hoping you may be able to point me in the right direction.
I have a 98' SRX:
Stock engine
20/37 gearing
8 tooth drivers
1.25" track
I weight about 175lbs
Not sure if it matters but I just picked up a 2003 Viper skid that I'll be putting in.
I spend about 1/2 my snowmobiling on groomed trails and the other 1/2 on ungroomed trails, fields etc. I started a thread the other day about wether I should go with a heel clicker set up or just stay with what I have:

Would you have any thoughts as to a starting point for a new clutching set-up? Heel Clicker clutching kit? Weights, springs etc? Or perhaps just leave it as it is? This weekend I'm going to pull the power valves and give it a leakdown and compression test as well as check everything over to see if there is a reason why it's not over-reving with my current set-up.

why 20-37 gearing

shouldnt you be 22-38 or 23-38
The previous owner said he stopped by the local dealer and told them he was running 8 tooth drivers with a 1.25" track and that he wanted the best gearing for 1/4 mile, and they gave him the 20tooth and the new chain to go with it.

20/37 is wayyyy too low for 1/4 mile. Your gonna be out of gear at the 1/2 way mark with 8 tooth drivers.

Hmmm.....well something's goofy somewhere, I'll have to pull the chain cover and double check everything, perhaps someone swapped out the bottom sprocket before I bought it. I have 20/37 written in my notes but it's been almost 2years since I bought it so I'll have to go back and do some checking to find out what's in there for sure.
