I don't think you got screwed - that's the going rate on a good viper skid. Remember that the viper skid fits every yamaha from 1997 - 2004 and maybe some more with little or no modifications. And they do wear out. (bushings, rails, w-arms, shocks - all are wear items.) I think you got a fair deal. I saw one go for over $400 a couple weeks ago.
Might there be cheaper ways to improve the ride of your sled? Possibly.
Easier ways? Probably not.
That's my 2 cents.
Just remember to take the bolts out of the transfer rods when putting it back in - it makes it A LOT easier to get back in!

Ya, I've been looking for a better suspension for some time now and any that I've seen have been going fairly high. Considering the price that Yamaha wants for just the shocks, I thought $400 wasn't bad for the complete skid.xsivhp said:I don't think you got screwed - that's the going rate on a good viper skid. Ya, oh well, I'm sure the price I paid for the Viper skid will offset my chiropractor bill. LOLtippmannator said:that will put a dent in the wallet!! but in the name of sledding, i could justify olmost anything

Alot of people are replacing the pro-actions with other brand stock skids. Its a cheap alternitive to a M-10 or Expert X

If your talking a edge into a proaction chassis there are no mods to make it fit other then 3/16" thick alumn plates up front and 1/4" for the rear. Then its just a matter of measuring 3 times and drilling once. I will have my edge for sale soon that will include all the mounting plates, pictures of install, measurements, etc. Although for a RX1 it would work in a srx. I need more money then most for it though because I spent a lot to have the shocks re-built and re-valved.
The edge is probably the cheapest and best mod you'll do to your sled though!
