I have done many searches to find the info I am looking for but had many answers from many other sites..

I have an 01 mm700. It has around 6500 miles. I did a complete tear down due to a bad PTO seal and minor crash at the end of last season. I measured the cylinders and they are all within .001. I can still see the cross hatch.

My question is should I get them deglazed before new rings go in. I have read yes, no, maybe so, use anywhere from 80 - 400 grit or even scotchbrite. Anyone with some clarity on this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Nic cyl's are very hard, tuff,IMO hoeing(deglazing)is not really necessary
and the rings will seat fine,but.........if you just can't sleep good at night
worrying about it use a 240-280 grit 3 stone spring flex hone, don't use a
ball hone.

the problem(if you call it that LOL)is nic is so hard that a hone really don't
do a hell of allot.

Thanks for the reply.
The main thing that was keeping me up at night was wondering if the rings would seat properly or not.

If a guy was going to just touch them with scotchbrite, or 0000 steel wool, would you use an up and down or round and round pattern?

thanks, abunch. I will be starting the install process in the next couple of days. Hopefully everything goes well. The last thing I have to do is change out the PTO and Mag seals on the crank and I will be in business.
