I know everyone agrees that a bender silencer will make you loose 2 or 3 mph on top, but if a guy couples the silencer (currently on sled) with an airbox mod such as removing the vertical dividers (currently done as well) and A hauck boost bottle (currenty done) Would it be possible that the silencer actually helps? Also if I added a bender cold air kit to this combo how bad do you think I would be hurting MPG wise?

Thats a tough call, snow tech magazine had a slp can on there red head 700 years ago and with some other mods like your talking about. They said that they had a nice gain and had to add more weight to the clutch to get the rpm's back down.I personally don't think cans are worth the money and you'd do better spending it somewhere else, plus I am not sure if other engines would respond like the redheads.

Yea I noticed a huge gain as well, out of the hole it didn't seem too much better than stock but when it hit the midrange it just lit up. I think I may have lost 2-3 mph on top. Although I did have it up to 110 (according to speedo) on a super hard packed road 2 yrs ago, it's a 600 SRX as well.
I agree with the statement about the cans. Pipes are the only way to go if your looking to gain HP/$. I ran a dynaport silencer on my SXR for a season or two and the only thing I gained was a slight ringing in my right ear. Man was that thing loud!!!!!

I thought i recalled someone on here saying that taking the dividers out of the airbox was not a good idea... I forget who it was, but then they went on to say that drilling some holes in the divider evenly on either side showed some improvement

I hear alot of guys saying that stock pipes are near impossiple to beat, although I do hear good things about Power Inc. pipes, thats about it though. I have probably close to 1000 miles on the sled with the vertical dividers removed without a problem. The only thing is you have to move the larger main jet thats on the PTO side stock to the Mag side, I believe I went up 2 main jet sizes.

How did the silencer mod work? Doesn't it sound kind of hollow and tin like? What kind of power gains did you see with the air box mod as well?
