Where is Gary When you need him?
Gary - NOSBOY - Oles should report for duty any minute and explain how fuel is the culprit for deposits on power valves not oil. Sorry Gary had to do it. YAMMIGOD please dont tell us how clean your valves are only running 500 hundred feet at a time running wide open. Just teasing. All of the synthetics seam to get good reports. I like Klotz.

Mine looked the same way using that stuff in my 02 srx. I just went back to yamalube. I just go ahead and clean them every 1,000 milesiahacker said:Here's one of my power valves after switching to Interceptor last year. I sucked all the Yamalube out of the oil tank and made a clean switched. They were cleaned spotless before the switch. After all the talk about how well this oil works...I'm very disapointed.

The stuff is like tar. I jetted it to the 2000/2002 specs and by the way I didn't like as it was a little fat in the mid range. Yes, the oil pump was turned down. I ran Iridium plugs in it all last winter. Always run 91 to 93 octane fuel. Very few sleds pass me. We normally run up and down the DesMoines river between 70 and WOT.
How many miles you guys put on a year to say Interceptor is so clean?
These are with 1,600 miles on them. I was assuming they would stay cleaner by all the talk so, I didn't look at them through the winter. The miles kind of sneeked up on me. I didn't realize I had so many miles on it until the season was over. The've been cleaner in the past at 1,300 mile with Yamalube.
I'm going to stay with the Interceptor this winter. Planning to put the 2001 pilot jet back in and lean the mains one size and see what happens.
I have it tore down for a re-ring at the moment. The rest of the engine is like brand new with 4,300 miles on it. I am amazed by that.
Anybody got any advice for me or anyone else using this stuff...speak up. I love the advice.
Thanks guys

I'm sticking with interceptor for now because it's a full synthetic base oil and a syn. is always better for reduced wear and friction and flow ability in a engine...it's a win win situation with synthetics.

Aircraft paint stripper will take that build up right off the pv's..
That was nasty. We average 3000 miles a year. When we had that Polaris, I cleaned them valves every fall and have never seen them that bad. I know that depending on what you cleaned them with, they can and will build up like that no matter what oil you use. Like say if someone used sand paper or something that will leave little groves on them. You guys with the bad valves, are you on the gas or what? lol j/k

Power valves
I have been using amsoil for the past 3 seasons in my 1999 SRX and at the end of last year 1 of my gas lines cracked and had to limp the sled home. after fixing it and starting the sled backup it ran but there was no power, i thought i blew a piston so i took the top end off to find everything was ok except for a pulled cable on a power valve.
Iahacker mine looked identical as yours when i pulled my power valves and i put 2500kms last year ( Most of the miles were just like yours 70mph to WO ). I believe if you would have put on some more miles you would have pulled a cable to.
What i have learned from this is that the power valves need to be cleaned every 1000miles or 1600kms
I can say this i bought the sled with 2400 miles and i have used amsoil since i got the sled now around 7000 miles and i have never had a motor hold together this long without something letting go.
