Could someone, in plain english, explain the theory behind roller secondary, the benefits, power gains, and if really worth the $$'s.....Reaper (I am currently running Hauck #4 w/Helix)

well...

The absence of friction is th key. Backshifting frees up alot when you have roller pearings rolling instead of plastic buttons sliding on metal ramps.

You can theoretically get more power to the track by the secondary shifting up quickly enough to catch up with the engine, the speed of the upshift boosts track hp numbers.

If you snox, a roller is mandatory, grass dragging seems to benefit too. Some trail riders swear by them, but usually those people went right from stock set ups to the roller...A well tuned button clutch does pretty good, and for the money of a roller...I decided against it. That's just me though!

All they do is make it shift quicker, mainly a beifit if you on and off the trottle alot, keeps you from getting caught in the wrong "gear"

Reaper, Spend your money on other performance parts. Roller secondary clutches are for snowcross and oval racers. They need superior back shifting when very hard braking then accelerating corner after corner. Trail riders, lake racers even drag racers don't gain any speed using roller secondaries for upshifting. There is plenty to be gained if clutched properly for your personal type of riding. Get advice from guys on this forum like turk and others. --mac--

I have one on my 96xt. Being electric start and rev. it helps to slow me down quicker with all that weight. I like it,my2cents.

rollers

I dont know about flatlanding, but when I had done everything I could to make the srx climb, and added a hitech er, I gained 10mph climbing speed instantly, and if you are a mountain rider, you know that is just huge. It stood up on end.
