Ya think regular paint would crack when the shock springs compressed. anybody try it before? What would be an alternative, powder coating?

i have painted many springs with single stage enamel (ohlins orange) and they last great. paint will pit a bit from rocks but quicker and easier than powder coating.
when doing this, use laquer thinner in the enamel, it will make it flash dry faster and less likely to run. painting springs with slow drying paint and getting all the edges is a little harder than with a fast drying paint. finish on springs doesnt need to be high gloss.
