Trailer Is getting dirty

Anyone suggest a good cleaner for the Alum metal on my trailer? It just has block spots all over it from years of use. I have tried scrubbing but that does not clean up the metal. I would like to get it shinny again of possible including the metal plate on the front which takes most of the abuse. it is a 2001 Sled Bed with sled doc top.

Stop by a large truck stop, or a trucking operation, and they should have an acid based wash you spray on, leave for a few minutes, spray off. This is if you are talking about bare aluminum, nothing else. Don't leave on longer than they tell you. This is how truckers clean there alum wheels, other alum trailer items.

You could also try any kind of aluminum polish that any auto parts store sells and a Flitz ball on an electric drill.
Thats what I do to keep the aluminum tunnel on my sled nice and shiny. I dont get carried away like some people do who polish it to the point it looks like a mirror, but I do enough to get the oxidation off and keep it shiny.
 
I think once I use the acid I will be able to use the polish. If I would of polished it each year I think I would of been allset. I let it go for so long the polish is not strong enough to take out all the black dots on the metal. I do use that metal polish on the bike and the sled and it works wonders. Main thing is not letting it get to dirty between cleans like I did with the trailer.

You can go to just about any auto parts store and get a mag wheel cleaner. I think the stuff I bought last time was called Quick Silver. It's acid-based and you just spray it on, leave it for a few minutes, then hose it off. Works well on uncoated aluminum.
 
TY I will try that. It will be easier than finding a truck around here.

What you want is called AlumaKleen. Its around $35.00 a gallon. You use 1 cup for every 5 gallons of water. Lightly brush on with a soft/medium bristle brush then rinse. Continue this until you reach the shine desired. You can do a 4X4’ area at a time. Do not leave on long enough to dry. Do not get on glass. Wear protective clothing, gloves and face shield. Use water mixed with baking soda over area to denaturalize acid when finished. With one cup I did the outside of a 18’ riverboat and my 14’ Sledbed trailer. The salt shields on the front of the trailer turned as bright as the day I bought it.
