I was going over the sled, getting her ready and found this. Looking for opinions on this arm. Doesn't seem bad, just a little tweak with a dimple on the inside. Should I ride it or replace it? I have no clue when I would have done this or how long I might have ridden it this way. I don't jump her like a snowcrosser, but I do hit the moguls pretty hard. Thanks.

I think you will be allright, just keep an eye on it and check all your alignments to make sure everything else is allright. The only thing that concerns me is the dimple that is a weak spot,so like I said keep an eye on it.

I rode my SXVenom with a much more noticeable tweak and dimple for over 1200 miles (jumped it into a side of a hill). I didn't have the money to fix it at the time. Like Yamaouch08 said, check your alignments. Keep an eye on it. I waited till i had the money to replaced it. Just be careful.

I have no clue how they bow out like that in the middle.I have had that happen before and seen many others.

I'd maybe run it and buy an ohlins for the rear skid or something .. .maybe ..... lol

Yes, LOL, your quite the salesman! You mean to tell me you haven't sold that rear shock YET? The pic looks good and I'd love it, but that S for the wife is gonna get in the way. I'll just steal the Ohlins off the back of hers and put the VR's back in. She'll never know the difference!

Thanks for the opinions guys. Think I might just let it go and keep a close eye on it. It realy is crazy how it bows out like that. I just can't conceive what type of hit causes that. I never recall hitting anything that would have made me concerned about looking for damage like that. Are these arms THAT weak?

trailing arm

I don´t think it will be a problem. as long as you don´t feel a riding problem ride with it. Don´t reinforce your traling arms, afriend of mine did and his insurance company wouldn´t pay for a new chassie after a crash because his trailing arms was reinforced, (Sweden )maybe not the case in your state but be careful the insurance companys rip us off every day so be careful.

Lol mine looked like that after 50km on the sled. Finally changing it this year(hit a tree stump to bend it better) with over 5000km on the sled. My guess is that it is slightly bent right after the reinforcment ends on the bottom.

Keep riding it.

How do you keep all the rust off of your front end parts everything looks like its new?

:dunno: By washing it off after I ride it I guess? Sled has over 4000 miles on it.

My 02 viper has no rust on it either with 8,400 miles on it. I keep it clean and haul it in an enclosed trailer,I haved owned it since it was new in 01.

IMHO, that kink will never go away (mine didn't), it will never get even a little bit better. With even a minor whack to the ski, you risk folding it like an accordian with lots of damage to your chassis attachment point. The arm is very weak once it is kinked.

May as well take out a 2nd mortgage before the rates go up even more, & buy your replacement.
