I have an '01 Mountain Max 700 & am getting ready to install a peak performance head I picked up off ebay. I've got a new o-ring kit for it
& want to install new head gaskets also, I don't want any leaks & only
want to do this once.
On Yamaha's parts site they show 2 part numbers for a head gasket
for my sled , an 8ed2 & an 8ej2, but no description of differences. I called
my local dealer and he didn't know & didn't have any to look at or measure.
My question is, which one should I use?
This is the first time the head has been off & I'm running SLP pipes, gutted
airbox, an ATTAC, & ride from 4000 feet & up.

8EJ2 is the 600 and 8ED2 is the 700. both sleds on the same picture.

That makes sense, when I look at the 600 they show the same numbers &
my sled's vin # is 8ED.
Sometimes I'm a little slow but funny how it got by my yamaha dealer too,
I musta got the new guy on the phone.
