Just picked one up. It has good spark in all cylinders. It pops and misses when you start it up. YOu need to keep the thing choked to keep running. I took off the carb bottoms, took out pilot jets along with main jets. Nothing seems to be plugged. Sled did sit all last season but only has 1000 miles. Just wondering what I should check next. I have heard of the TORS thing but that did not seem to work. ANy advice would be greatly appreciated...I also drained old gas and put in fresh 93.

Just because you checked the jets doesnt mean that the orfices that the fuel flows through is not plugged. Remove them from the sled and give them a complete going thru.
The low speed passages that are in the throat of the carb are a little bigger than a pin or needle. T

I agree, pull the carbs and give them a complete cleaning, there could be varnish from the old gas plugging orfices.

Agree. Complete cleaning is the only way to ensure you are not dealing with a carb problem. After that I'd check the wiring harness that runs under the motor and to the front hood. The harness lives in a really crappy environment (wet & oily), so much so that I re-routed my harness up and over the recoil starter.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

turns out the pilot jets were completely clogged. I thought you should be able to blow through them but ended up overlooking it. This thing runs mint now. I ended up getting this 02 sx600r with a 2002 triton xt10 aluminum trailer all for 2300 bucks. I think my wife will like this sled. I hope anyway.....thanks for all the input...Blake
