I am trying to get a handle on jetting my Viper. First time jetting on a two stroke. I understand how critical it is to get it right. I have studied the jetting charts and the bender recommended jetting for the viper with their pipes. Here is what I don't get;
In the jetting charts the MJ numbers appear to get lower as the jetting gets leaner?
The PJ numbers get larger as the jetting gets leaner? That was the part I didn't get. But the numbers go up as the elevation gets higher.
Bender specs;
Jetting should be determined by the quality of fuel available in your area. For those running blended, oxygenated, or unknown fuel, 167.5 mj and 55 pj are required. Using premium pump gas of known good quality allows for 165 mj and 52.5 pilots.
After reading the jetting charts and then reading the bender specs I am confused. Doesn't the 52.5 lean out the pilot from the 55? Am I missing something?
I got a set of 165s and 55s with my pipes. That is what I have installed now. Obviously not a chance to check it out. I have the fuel screws set at 1 7/8 turns. Bender specs didn't mention the clips.
How much effect does the clip position have?
