Difference between a SXR and an SX?

What are the differences between the two? I am looking at a 99 but for some reason the 00 look different as far as the suspension goes, so my question is what are the differences??
 
Longer travel suspension and different clutching and jetting.Oh, I believe a slightly better .91 lug track as opposed to a .75 lug track, but it does'nt really matter really as they all need to be replaced with a ripsaw, predator or something like that anyways.The '00's and up had better graphics and were just a better looking sled in my opinion.
 
yep the gearing/clutching/jetting is different and the 00' had the wider handlebars as well as the long travel and the sexy graphics.(basically everything can be updated) I read somewhere that the SXr had wider running boards? but I can't tell the difference...
 
Good to know, so if I wanted the longer travel I would have to buy the long travel kit right? I would also have Turk help me with the clutching as well...and those graphics are bad I might have something custom done if I decide on this sled I am looking at. Or I might just wait for a 00 or 01 in my price range again....

Only the 700 SXR got the dual headlight and 300W ignition in 2001, the 600 didnt get it until 2002.
 
How much do you guys think it would be to long travel and get the 99 updated to a 00-01?? Or would I be better off just spending the money on a 00-01 instead of updating the 99....
 
I would spend the extra cash and get the 02 or new sled. All the updates as mentioned above are great. The 02 has the better light which makes a big difference. The 02 Vmax SX-R is a great trail sled or Viper.
 
I am looking at a 700 SXR now, is there anything that these sled are prone to do? I do recall there was something with the W-arm in the skids with the SRX's but the SXR are different so is there anything I should look for. I mean this sled looks mint from the pictures plus is has 2600 miles only so what should I be looking for.....
 
I thought you were talking about a 700 not a 600? all the proaction W-arms break SXr SRX(long travel or short) it doesn't matter I have broken both, but I'm 6'7" and a hair over 300 lbs. You can weld them and reinforce them to solve the problem. SXr's are pretty solid all the way around with the exception of the w-arm and the proaction isn't the greatest skid. Look for cracks in the primary, broken suspension parts, but I doubt it should have any issues at 2600 miles. Just check it out and see if it's been wrecked.

Well its either a 700 or a 600 all depends on what I find, I found both so im just looking to see what all goes wrong with them.

coles, my 99 sx was faster than my 00 sxr by 2 sled lengths, the only difference was the longer shock travel. $150 should get the longer shocks.
 
Is that all I would have to do is get the longer shocks? And then it would be long travel or is there more to do??
 
I dont really like the red sx's, I am looking for a blue sx or sxr. And its still up in the air as far as what I want to get either a 600 or 700. It mostly depends on the price and how much I sell mine for on ebay. If I get how much I am asking then I will get a 700 if not then a 600
