Can someone please tell me if there is a difference in front shocks between a 87 and 88 SRV. Parts listings seem to say 88 and up. What is the difference if any and will the ones listed for 88 work on the 87 Thanks .

The difference is on the bottom where the ski mount attaches to the strut. There are two different styles. One is the same diameter as the rest of the strut and the other style is machined to a smaller diameter on the bottom. I can't remember which style is the later one though. IIRC the non stepped one.

I believe the older T.S.S. struts were necked down and the newer carried the same diameter. The newer also, had a wider ski mount.
is there a way to change the fork/shock oil in srv struts? any way to adjust the damping?

The strut is sealed (at least any I've seen) There are different rate springs though. Not much to toy with there.

The Struts on the Vmax and I believe the SRV were nitrogen charged. There is a small needle hole on the bottom which after the ski holder is removed, a yamaha dealer with a tank and gauge setup could adjust the pressure !
