Anyone use these aftermarket clutch rebuild kits? I'm not sure who makes them...(they are on pg. 139 of Royal Distributing's online Winter calalouge) If so have you had any success or should I stay clear and spend the $$ on OEM

Are there any other kits on the market?

I have one of those kits.......I took my clutch to Tony Pinter (a local yamaha/sled mechanic with lots of Yamaha experience) to have him split it for me and he told me that kit is a waste of money better off buying the kit from Yamaha.

If you want I will sell you that royal kit for $10.00 plus shipping.

I put one in a 2000 700sx, ran 3000 + km's without any issues...like the price of the kit so much I got two more set's, primary and secondary...Yes I agree O.E.M . are better made parts, but every now & then something out there is just as good & cheaper...my 2cents

That looks like the exact same kit that Dennis Kirk sells. It is made by SPI. I messed with it a little bit the other night, and it seems like nothing fits right. All of the tolerances were too tight. I considered returning it, but I will give it one more shot when I get some garage time.

Not sure what style of primary you have, but I tried the same primary kit with disasterous results.
The main bushings are the straight pressed in design and mine were the earlier round on the outside type. (NFG)
Worse yet the sliders were made of a cheap plastic that looked to be injection molded with the seam running right down the middle and across the pin hole. After a few hours on them, some of them split and fell out, leaving all the pressure on one leg of the spider assembly which promptly snapped off.

This was the only aftermarket kit I could find also.

Yes it was the SPI kit...was from Royal Dist. ...also sold by others

well, I tried rebuilding my primary with this kit...won't waste my time or money on it again...tolerences way off...poor quality pieces...I will never recommend these kits to anyone...I just spent the money on OEM parts....rebuilt the clutch...and it actually will move on the shaft...so it is OEM for my from now on...(for wearable clutch parts anyways)
