Yeh, it's not good, but unlike the other OEM's they actually were proactive about it instead of waiting for an incident or 100.

a young man(16) here in town actually had this happen with his phazer last year, wrapped the sled into a tree and done like $2500 in damage to the sled, i wonder if yamaha would pay for his costs? they sent pictures to yamaha all about the incident. luckily he wasnt hurt badly.

If snow and ice were to build up until it restricted steering would, this not be a slow noticeable process and not sudden ?

i think it has somthing to do with ice bilding up around the nuts and backing them off after a while. i think all the fix is replacing the bolts and nuts with ones that use a cotter pin to hold the nut in place. im not totaly sure tho thats what i have gotten out of it
