First let me say Hi. I've been scanning the forum fo a while now but have never posted. I just started doing all the maintinance for my 04 Viper and the tech tips really help.

Anywho, I want to take a trip up to the UP of Michigan this year. How are the trails up there? I'm trying to plan a week long trip and would like to get an idea of how many miles I can plan for each day. I know riding in Ontario 300 miles was a nice days ride but riding around the Tug Hill area 200 miles can really beat you up. We will be avoiding the weekend traffic.

Also, if anyone has a recomendation of where to start out from i'd appreciate it. We're looking to start from one point and do overnight trips from there so we need a place that has good access to the main trails. The farther east the better, its already a 10 to 12 hour drive from western NY.

Thanks

Munising would be a very good place to stay and start your days rides. There are many systems that run through munising many miles many different ways.

Welcome Aboard,

Come join us on the Munsing Ty ride. Go to the Ty ride section and get some information for the ride dates. I will be on the January 9th-13th ride. Book a room for the ride dates at the hotel we are staying at in advance. You will love it and get to meet some great people and put some faces to names. The trails up in that region are awesome!!!

U.P. Trip

I have ridden most of the Eastern and Central U.P. and if you want to start on the east side Sault Ste. Marie or any place west of there would be good. The trails run west toward Paradise, Grand Marais, Munising or south toward Kinross, Drummand island, then west towards Curtice and up through Newberry. If we get normal snow year which John Dee is forcasting you are in for a real treat. The off trail possibilities in those areas are endless.

Good luck

i would suggest going to a TY ride in munising. ride with the group for a few days get to know your way around and if you want to stay longer, you at least have a good bearing on where your at now, from several great trail bosses. i would watch for that rich character, don't follow him! lol..... just kidding rich! good times, good place and great friends!
