Here`s the deal , trying to get the primary off my dad`s Arctic cat and the bolt will not break loose. Tried a impact , tapped the bolt , and even put a bar on it with no results. I don`t dare put anymore force to it or it`s gonna break. Now i know it`s an AC with throw away clutches but i need to get it off. Any ideas from you gear heads?

What year is it? How long has it been on there?
Are you using something to hold the clutch from spinning? Something has to give.

Sometimes we use a 3/4" drive impact.

Maybe apply a little bit of heat? Could somebody have loctite'd it when the bolt was put on?
And what Tomseal said, make sure you are also using a clutch holder to stop the primary from spinning.

Start the sled up and get it warm they come off alot easier. You may have to use an impact becare ful.I snapped a puller off in a doo clutch once.

2 cents worth!!!!
I had a similar problem a few years back when I bought a 1976 Pantera from my wifes uncle. He sold it cheap and I just wanted to fart around with it until I blew a piston and destroyed a cylinder.Couldn't get the bolt off the clutch.Impact (3/4") wouldn't remove it.I got a little pissed and had to think about what I should do.I tapped it and tried again, but no go.
I then had a brainwave. If it is that tight, heat would expand it,so why not cold.Took a gelpac that you put in a freezer and use to place on an injured part of your body.I took it and wrapped it around the inside of the clutch between the 2 sheaves for a bit. Then I put the impact to it and bang..off the clutch came. This is my 2 cents.

Take the puller bolt back out, take a grease gun and fill the void about 1/2 - 2/3 full of grease. Reinstall and start torquing the puller bolt, the hydraulic pressure created will usually pop even the stubborn ones.
I have had some stubborn ones as well, a good sharp hit on the end of the bolt with a large hammer usually will allow it to break loose.
I like "pro's" idea of getting the engine warm, that will put some heat into the crank.

Yup, engine heat helps. but, I have heard the smackin' it with a BFH may damage the crank bearings. I could be wrong but it makes sense.

I also always put grease on the end of the puller it helps press off the clutch.

that must be one tight bolt..

are we talking about the 1/2" 12 point clutch bolt or the puller?

The 1/2" 12 point bolt...i can`t break it loose. And it`s tough to get much of a socket on it also as there is not much room. Have broke 2 sockets and a 12 pack of beer on this thing. I know the tricks with the puller but gotta get that darn bolt out 1st.

Put that 3/4" gun back on there with a deep ( so you have something to grip)impacted socket on there and try this, with one hand on the socket, the second you hit the trigger give the socket a good hard counter-clockwise snap with your hand. make sure you do it RIGHT when you hit the trigger because the air PSI is the highest in the hose for the first second then it dips.
I was skeptical of this the first time I heard of it, but I have seen it really work.
A co-worker of mine was trying to get a wheel of a combine with a 1" impacted gun and hammered on it with that for a long time with no luck. so he call the tire man and he came picked up the SAME GUN and gave the socket a good snap and out the bolts came first try.
hope this helps! Silver

The biggest problem is those damn arctic cat clutches! The bolt is recessed back in the clutch and there is very little room to get a socket in there. None of my impact sockets will fit. Only could get a thin wall socket on it.

yep, only a thinwall 1/2" 12 point fits in there, try not to use a very long extension so more power goes into breaking it loose then twisting the extension. I would also just run your air psi up to about 125#, this will give your impact alot more power.

I`m gonna borrow my uncles impact cause it has more nuts than mine does and hopefully it will bust it loose. I`ve just never had one give me this much trouble before.
