Clutch Tuning questions.

Ok, been doing my homework and have a few questions. I got the 600 2 years ago and have been modding it to get the most out of this heavy boy since. At the end of last year he was running great with the pipes, carbs cleaned and tuned to specs found here, and a spring change on the secondary. This year I wish to tune the clutches for aggressive trail riding as the engine has withstood a year without incident. I'm looking to get the holeshot out of the corners. Top speed isn't a major factor as around here we don't have many long straights. Mostly (fun) twisty trails.

Here is the current setup. I'm going by memory on the engagement Which was around 4K and shiftout rpms IIRC it seemd to be a bit high. I thought the shiftout with the GYT pipes was around 7,900 but I can't find that data. Damn dog... :o|

Questions are:

1. The rivets in the primary weights seem to be awfull heavy to me. What is the proper way to measure them? Is the measured length before they are installed or after? According to the data in the tech section, they are either 3.6 or 4.5 grams. Does this 600 have enough balls to pull those? It seemd to do ummm....ok. I wish to replace the weights and rivets as the weights are not totally smooth. Bushings etc are fine. BTW, I was unaware the there are different rollers that effect force. I have 14.5mm grooved and machined which again are on the high side as far as force goes.

2. Secondary helix, I believe to be stock but can't find the 8BV10 in the tech section. I would like to replace it with a dual angle. It just seemed to take a long time to reach top speed although backshift was ok.

So... My thoughts are at this point to change weights and rivets, could you folks look over my setup and give me some recommendations on which way to go? The more I study this the more I think I understand but, yet at the same time the more confused I get as to what to change because of all the different combinations. I would like to get the shiftout set via the primary to the peak power of the engien with the GYT's. I would also like it to get up to speed faster via a helix change. Does that make sense or am I way off? :dunno:

Shift RPM for GYT pipes is 8100, change your secondary helix so that it snaps fastest to that RPM when you pinch the throttle. Rivets are measured before install, cause crushing is different on each one.

Thank You..
