I am assuming it is best to put the cylinders back in the same spot they were removed from? What is the best way to mark them so they don't get mixed up? I was thinking a sharpie?

Sharpie on the intake side is what I used or if you dont want to leave a mark just a piece of duct tape, stick it on and write down the CYL. #

or how about just stamping them with a number stamp, if you dont have a number stamp just use a nail punch, little mark on top of powervalve mounting location workls for me, 1 dot, 2 dots, 3 dots, easy......

I like the stamping idea, just didn't know if it was a good idea on the aluminum cylinders. I would think the tape or crayon would wash off while cleaning them? Thanks for the replies.

I would say it doesn't matter as long as you're putting new rings in as the new rings will have to seat in to the cylinders regardless if they were on the same location or not. I think they are just mostly talking about if they are using the same internal engine parts... I.E pistons, rings etc.

Am I right on this guys?

ummm.... (trying to remember) I changed it back in late January right after I got my SRX! lol So if..... 1+2... carry the 1 and I have 10... 10 months is recent then YES I did change it recently!!! lol.

Why do you ask? just thought I had something different? or did you think I had snow already? If that's the case then no, i'm still in a T-shirt and it was 23 celcius today. Very nice day actually, just no snow. lol.

Well I never marked mine because the dowels stayed in place for the head and would only make sence with where the pto and mag go. Stamping does sound like a damn good idea though.
