Can someone tell me if there is a difference in the mounting of the secondary from the TSS Vmaxes (or EX 570) to the Pro Action Vmaxes? Is the spline on the jackshaft the same? How different are the internals of the clutches?

Angus

the old strut sleds use a completely differnt secondary with a enclosed helix, where as the new secondaries have the outside exposed helix. I am unsure if the jackshaft is the same diameter, the spline could possibly be the same but I would double check the shaft information to be sure.

there were a couple years that they made the secondary exposed with the inside shaft that went on the strut sled shafts. the spline is made out further on the clutch and can work in a pinch on a 97 up yamaha. to use a 97 and up yamaha on the older style shaft, you need to make the splines go further in on the shaft. It really sucks to do this and i dont recomend it.

the other clutches are out there. came on 95 and up strut sleds, 800s anyway for sure, think the 600s too.

I've got a line on a roller kit from a member here, and I'm trying to get an idea of time/effort/$$$ required to put it on my EX. I originally thought the entire driveline was the same between the EX and the TSS Vmaxes - turns out I was wrong! Anyone care to comment on this job?

isnt the 96 the only strut sled with the new style secondary?? been a while since I worked on the old ones.......:itchy:

WM - you think the secondaries from both 95 & 96 use the newer helix setup AND will bolt onto the older style shafts?

Angus

A 95/96 V-Max is what you want. It uses the same helix's from all the newer sleds. I have put one on a 90 Exciter. You need a longer bolt and collar. If I remember correctly you can look up a 96 or 97 Phazer.
