Hey guys, I'm going to be putting the 5.35" Polaris wheels on my skidframe I think, I was just wondering what model of Polaris has the wheels that will fit on the Pro-action Skid. I'm going to be going to royal distributing this weekend and i was looking in there catalogue and there is numerous 5.35" wheels but some have a different part number so im unsure of which ones would be the correct ones. Just a quick question, thanks in advance

I dont know the brand but I get the 5.38 wheels from richierich.

There was a post on here few days ago about somebody having problems installing some brand of 5.38 wheels becuase they come in contact with each other so, watch what you buy.

okay after doing a bit of searching on here, i came across a few posts.... one saying that the wheels off any indy would work... and another saying not to use the oversize wheels if you have a studded track with studs on the outside which i have....

Lol what do i do??? is this true that it will eat my new track up if i go oversize?? apparently it puts to much down pressure on the stud??? I dont know, i do know that my previous track had 144 studs, and they were up the middle and the outside as well and i put close to 10 000km on that track without any issues of the track grenading on me... so who do i believe here?? lol

From a Mr Viper post.
Well anytime you reduce friction and rolling resistance your gonna gain speed. the bigger wheels reduce the bending of the track which eats up power and scrubs off speed, the easier it is to bend, the easier it rolls across the ice.
Easy way is to use polaris 5.350 wheels on all 6 skid wheels, then use 7.5" rear wheels from a 79 srx440, then use the marginal wheels up at the curve of the rails, then put a new set of black graphite sliders on a table saw, cut them down so they are 1/8th of an inch thick, and install them, thats how youll get free top end speed.

It's just a little 700!

I can't comment on the oversize wheel/outside stud situation. I have read that post, I have a feeling it had nothing to do with the wheels at all but ??? More likely an incorrect install of the studs, or track just tired out. I have run Cats with outside belt studs directly under the outside wheels with no issues.

well thats why i find it hard to believe that thats what caused it, i ran mine the whole life of the track with the studs under the wheels with no issues at all, and i did a lot of trail riding in rough conditions and drag racing and i've never pulled a stud out or tore the track due to a stud so i cant see that going to a bigger wheel would do this but i could be wrong, lol and if i am wrong someone set me straight b4 i blow my brand new track hahaha

Any of the wheels for a polaris that are 5.350" are correct, its just that there are little plastic inserts in the bearings to reduce the inner I.d. some are 3/4' some are 7/8, (I buy whatever ones are cheaper)but they are the same bearing and same wheel. Youll be discarding the polaris inner plastic spacer anyways and reusing the yamaha one, and they will bolt right on your skidframe, the rear 2 wheels will press right on the aluminum axle after you remove the snap rings, no plastic spacers are required there.

Thats bogus information about a bigger wheel making a stud tear out, lots of stud patterns run right under the wheels, thats how they get pressure applied to them to bite in. if the stud is installed in the track CORRECTLY, and presunk in the track it wont hurt a darn thing!

Everyone seems to run thier own size wheels but if you run the 5.350" diameter wheels they will go on without a problem and not rub on each other, it also will keep all the wheels on the same plane, along with 7.50" rear wheels will all keep the skid level to the surface and free up alot of rolling resistance.

Here's apic of my oversize idlers and 7.5" rears with graphite hyfax.

Skidooslayer687, if you are interested I have a used set of 5.350" off a Polaris. I'm located in Ottawa as well, so let me know. $50 for all six.

Of you go to Royal, its part # 04-116-67 (that is the all black wheel).
