What is the tallest lug you can run on/off trail in N WI/UP
Looking to find out what would be the tallest track lug you would want to run for on and off trail riding in N. WI/ UP. I was thinking anywhere from 1.5" to 2" 121 or 136. Not interested in the 1.5 ripsaw at all. At times will be riding on icey hardpacked trails, but would run ice scrachers. Also not worried about top speed and looking for the advantage to be towards the off trail. Studding maybe a also looked at.
Some that come to mind is Camoplasts 1.5 Intense, 1.75 Back County, and there new 1.352 Cobra. I also have a 2" x 136 Camoplast Challenger, but think it will not work for trail riding.

I would'nt go taller than 1.5" with midwestern type conditions, this is about all that will hold up on trail. Not to mention much more than that tears the trails up like crazy and we don't need anymore of that.If you were to strictly ride off trail in powder in the up that would be different and more lug would work great, but you stated you want to ride some trails, that new cobra or the intense may be perfect for what your doing.Snow tech magazine put a 1.75" lug on there rev renegade and ride the western up alot and said it was a mistake, even a 1.25" predator may be great for dual purpose as you want to do.1.25" lugs will be much more tolerant to packed snow or lean conditions which can be common in recent winters, thats my 2 cents anyway.

Not sure why anyone needs more than 1.25" lug for trail ridding ?

Do not need it for trail riding my 1" with 144 picks work great. Looking to maximize my off trail capability while still being able to ride the groomed trails 30% of the time.

wolfman,
i ran a 121x1.5 intense for a year on my SXR, loved the track. very good track for off trail riding, i went a lot of places longer sleds could.
Also, i ran a two inch paddle on my sled all last in very poor conditions, no hyfax problems, no missing lugs, no problems. the taller lug tracks hold up fine in midwest as long as you dont ride down the middle of the road for 10 miles.
