My bud who does not own a sled yet said he found a V-Max 600 I think in Minnesota. He is going to pick it up.It has about 6000 miles on it,Black in color and the price is for about $1500.My question is..are the 600 V-max a decent sled. Are there any problems with them.Maybe one of you on this site is selling this sled.I have talked him into Yamaha for sure. He has a friend who supplies parts to Artic Cat and Polaris.Says the Artic Cats are being made cheaper and Polaris could fade away.2 brothers run these 2 sled makers. He said if these 2 brothers would work together with one company, they would be better off.Sounds like Polaris is in trouble .Anyways this is what he tells me.Anyways any info on the V-max would be useful...thanks...........................................................Doug

What year is the sled?

Very reliable sleds, the twins are hard on the primary clutch. Gas mileage isn't very good compare to a tripple. I installed reed spacers and did the head gasket mod on my 98 600, seem to help the gas mileage and performance.

When your friend contacts Yamaha Canada to get a Recall Clearance Letter, he should ask for a letter stating that the sled does not have a seventeen digit VIN. Yamaha sleds did not have 17 didgit VIN untill 2002. I had troubles with RIV with this issue, once I had the letter from Yamaha no problem. If you have any questions on importing just ask me, I just finished the paper work on my 2001 SXR 700 which I picked up in Minnesota this fall.

O I forgot the year, sorry. He told me it was a 1995 V-max.He said it looked in great shape. He has imported vehicles into Canada already but I will explain that to him blkmax600...thanks.

95's were good sleds mine just keeps going, keep it stock they don't like
after market twin pipes, she'll grenade if he does..

Hey daman.Did you check your front lawn lately.I went by there the other night and launched my SRX on it a few times.Mine got to torn up ,so I had to try elsewhere..and your name came to mind......LOL

Good to here that daman. What speeds can he expect. He is on the heavy side.Something around the 200lb mark at least.
Oh in right conditions she'll see 80-90 on the dream O meter, i had mine
only once up to 86 and still going but ran outa real state, i'm 190ish lb's

not the fastest out there but there fast for there day, i love the relyability
like all yammie have..

@ your post 8,

lol it's a new lawn too.... #$%&*

if it's a 95 then it looks like the one in my avatar. She has almost 7k on the clock. Stock skid isn't anything to brag about although it does do it's job. Gas mileage sucked until I put a thin headgasket in, rebuilt the primary and cleaned and adjusted the carbs to specs found here. Not bad performance wise. I wouldn't expect it to hang with the big dogs, although the big twin has plenty of grunt. Alround a nice dependable sled. Some say stay away from tuned pipes. I have a set of GYT's twins on her and it really woke her up as far as performance goes.

1,500 seems a bit steep though, Mine is super clean and the most I had offered was 1,000. i was going to get a different one this year but if thats all its worth I'll keep it. Has never let me down yet.

hope the vmax doesnt have the same main axle shaft as mine does.mines a 1994 with the optional reverse kit installed .it has a shaft that is shorter than the factory installed rev and the non-rev.this shaft of mine is nla and has spun .odd but it did.lucky for me the shaft coming from the rev-kit was still available and i found a doner shaft that i had to use for the main.sled only had 4000 mile on it ,i dont understand why the shaft spun the splines but it did.other than that the thing pulls like a truck and is a blast to ride.i went with aftermarket skis and a agressor track ,and also carbon fiber reeds.

$1500. is a little steep once he pays all of the import dues and GST(tax) and the gas to go and pick it up it will be over two grand. You can buy one up here in Canada for that price.

Hey Doug
I had a 94 600 that I sold last year for $900 US in good shape. Good sled overall, always ran good, but no suspension. We do a fair amount of field riding and its a rough ride. I weigh about 165 and the thing beat the heck out of me.
Replaced her with a 98 700 XTC that is much faster, and smoother for $1700.
Good luck and have a blast
Tim

Just talked with my bud on the phone this morning. He is looking at another sled.I told him back of the 95 V-max.He is bidding on a 99 V-max I think. But it is a triple and only has 1900 miles on it Says it has reverse and electric start, but the starter doesn't work on it.It is also in Minnesota. He'll have a better suspension on it and trailing arm front end then.I told him to sign up on the TY site and start asking his own questions if he should buy or not a certain model.
