Heads up for Expert Susppension Owners

I was talking to Aarron @ Excell Motorsports last week, and apparently they have experienced a few incidents of the lower swingarm mounting bolts that pass thru the big bushings fatiguing and breaking on suspensions with high miles/cycle numbers. As you can iimagine, if you were at speed when this happened, it could be unpleasant so to speak. They have come up with an inexpensive fix which appears far superior, and is a relatively easy retrofit.
For those that aren't aware, they also make a brace kit for the upper portion of the swingarm, that reinforces the skid laterally. I do not believe AD Boivin is offering anything similar to either of these items from the factory. I thought this should be posted, as to me, this is a safey issue.

What did the bottom reinforcements set you back???? Diff. interested even though they wont be installed till next year, got too much work to do already.

Yep. I have a set for my Expert already. I bought them about a month ago. Pretty cheap insurance. I think around 50 bucks. It's just a pain in the butt to get that swing arm off. lol

Yeah, 50/55 somewhere in there. I think those 3/8" bolts have green loctite from the factory 1CS, you need to heat it up even with an impact, went thru that last year. I pulled mine apart yesteday, just waiting on the parts to show up. I use loctite 262 to reassemble everything just to be on the safe side.

Yeah, My problem is the shaft keeps turning on me. Tighten one side, then the other one spins. I think you are correct, that Boivin LOADED them bolts up with locktight so they would not come out that easy. I'll have to break out the little butane torch I guess. lol

When I went to replace 1 of the 2 swingarms(Long Story) the only way I could both arms off was taking the whole skid apart. Heating it did nothing for me so I said screw it and rebuilt/polished the whole skid. Once I got it apart and got the bottom shock mount off, it took a a huge monkey wrench(stop shaft from spinning) and blows with a 2lb sledge to get the bottom shock shaft bolt out. To some it up PAIN IN THE A$$.

Haha, we've all had a few of those. I love it when the hammer comes out! Usually ends up costing me large.
My parts actually just showed up, I can't believe it, 2 days from NY, usually takes a week or 10 days. I guess I have something to work on tomorrow now. Skid back in, new rope into recoil and put pipes back in, and I'm ready.

Austin, thanks for the heads up you sent me a few days ago. You've been a big help with everything about the skid. I went out and checked my swingarm and it's ok, but I will be ordering this kit and the swingarm brace anyway, like said it's cheap insurance and it is a safety issue aswell. I guess I'll be calling Excell motorsports some time soon.
