Anyone know wht Yamaha did not put 38's on the SRX'S from the factory?

Yamaha believes in smaller carbs to keep the intake velocity higher, and this gives the engine alot crisper throttle response, better low speed operation characteristics, bigger carbs will only boost the power up a couple hp at wide open, sacrificing low speed response and will require more fuel along with the greater airflow(worse gas mpg), so for everyday trail sleds they would not be the hot ticket.
is it possible to bored the original one to 35 or something around that

Yes it is, several guys have done it. I don't know what kind of numbers you would see but it would depend on what else is done to the sled. Mrviper would know much more about how it would effect different engine sizes and other mods.

Boring the carbs to 35.5 on a slightly tweaked motor ain,t worth the gains in my opinion. If your running a mod with a ton of work every little bit counts but for the cost on a trail sled it ain,t worth the gain. Others may have a different opinion.
