No! they are not worth the no gain in hp. They canno be used with any silencer for all i know. But i think they have there own built in style. No pipes but Power Inc. pipes have gains for the srx.
Is the Power Inc. silencer good too or just their triple pipes?98700 said:No! they are not worth the no gain in hp. They canno be used with any silencer for all i know. But i think they have there own built in style. No pipes but Power Inc. pipes have gains for the srx.

I am not to sure, I have the pipes. I would think any silencer is good for sound only. I had argued with a guy that "gained 5 hp", I told him NO WAY! But people seem to listen to the ads, which are always BS. The triple pipes for the SRX have stinger type silencer. And they sound really good. But not to sure on the hp from a PI can, but little to no difference.

Power Inc made two different versions of pipes, ones that had their own stingers and ones that were similar to the stock pipes that went into a stock silencer or the power inc silencer. I do believe that both the versions of the pipes performed very well. I am not sure which performed better but the stinger version is going to be lighter. Aaen pipes drop 22 pounds off of the stock setup which is 4 pounds lighter than the Powerinc silencer version but lost a good amount of power for me. I am trying to remember but I believe my RPMs with Identical clutching as the stock pipes dropped 400 RPM with the Aaens and the Powerincs increased my stock clutching 100 RPM over the stock pipes. Acceleration with the aaens performed very well though.
Thanks 98700, I did some research on the can and one fellow who seemed to know what he was talking about [ I checked some of his earlier posts] said the Power Inc. can seemed about the same as the stocker, only really loud and was the only one that he knew of that didn't make less HP. It seems most people think that b/c they are making a lot of noise they "must" be going faster.98700 said:I am not to sure, I have the pipes. I would think any silencer is good for sound only. Not entirely true. Hauck and Bender's race pipes built power, but at 10,000 rpm. Jaws could build you a set of trail pipes that would build power...there's no doubt in my mind. They would probably spin the motor around 9,000 rpm, but the gain isn't worth the $1400 they will charge you. Oh, and the Aaen pipes lose horsepower.

Sorry for the off topic but......
Would ceramic coating your STOCK SRX pipes/manifolds,can(muffler) be a better opition than using some A/M pipes for HP gains on a SRX???? I dont know what kinda hp a engine(esp. 2 stroke) with a full ceramic exhaust would make over the stock painted/insulated pipes, so Id thought Id ask. Thinking of doing it on my SRX in the future, did it on my Viper mainly for the looks not hp.

Ceramic coating the Stock pipes is not going to do anything for you HP wise because the stock SRX pipes have wraping on them from the factory keeping the pipes warm so Ceramic coating them will not keep anymore heat in them then the stock insulation. The only benefit there is to coating the stock pipes is maybe looks and that is totally opinion. Ceramic coating a set of aftermarket pipes such as PowerInc or Aaen will be much better off because it will retain much more heat in the pipes and heat is power when it comes to 2 stroke pipes. The main benefits to aftermarket pipes come in the weight department, Powerinc drops 18 pounds and aaen drops 22 pounds off the front end. Aftermarket pipes GENERALLY have a better sound to them aswell.

Is there any jetting invovled when changing to A/M(PPI or AAEN) pipes on a SRX????? Or is it pretty much bolt on, clutch, and go????? Wondering cause dropping 22lbs off the front is ALOT for just changing out the exhaust.

Yes, you are going to need to rejet for each of these pipes, and all of these pipes are different in the amount of fuel they like. You will also have to reclutch for them but they are a great form of weight loss and most people do not realize it.

Off topic, however, what kind of paint did you use on your airbox and brake vent. I had thought about doing that a long time ago but never went through with it because i didn't know what to spray it with.

Thanks, I will look into it, I just assumed any type of spray paint would get chipped fairly easily under there.

For what its worth, my cousin has aaen's on his 98 srx mountain. Did a port and polish when he put them on. We couldn't tell any difference performance wise afterwards. I wouldn't call them loud. They have a nice sound to them, and are a hair louder than the slp's on my viper. When he stands it up going over a drift it sounds really good, I think it sounds better than my slp's. IMO, the weight savings is worth it.
