I am looking for a sled for my wife.
I have found an 2004 SX Venom 600 with electric start and reverse (a must for the wife). Asking price is $3950, 1500 miles, and its claimed to be mint. I have not seen it yet. Heres my questions.
Is this a good price?
Does this model have any known issues that I should look out for?
Will this be a nice ride for the wife or might it be a little heavy? For comparison, I ride a 2001 sxr 700. Are the ride and handling characteristics similar to my 700?
Comments and input appreciated. Thanks.
Cant wait for the snow!!

I think you've found a great sled for your wife - don't ride it - because even though it's smaller than your 700 it's a smoother running sled ..... sounds like a fair price too.

I bought the Venom. It is a really sharp sled and looks like new. I can't wait to take it out for a ride (umm, I mean for my wife to ride it).
It has a Camolast Predator track (1" I think), no studs, with round lugs and the track is like new. I am wondering if I will need to stud it or if it has good enuff traction as is. I would not want anything radical, just down the middle I guess.
Is anyone familiar with this track and what kind of performance I can expect?

Probably 96 studs down the center would work great for your wife unless she is an aggressive rider or if you ride it hard at times then put 144 in it.A diifferent track would help too, I'm not a fan of the round lug predator track, but maybe you'll like it try it out first.I have liked my 1.25 ripsaw so much that I don't even run studs anymore and I always ran studs before that track came out.Alot of great new tracks have came out in the last 5 years or so.

I have a 2006 Venom for the wife with this track. Put 96 studs down the middle. It will make a big difference. She likes riding the sled alot better with studs in it. The only pain is putting the heat exchanger protectors (front and rear) and tunnel protectors in. That took longer than putting the studs in the track. Mike

What size and type of studs did you use? I assume then that the exchanger & tunnel protectors are mandatory. About how much $$ is this whole project going to cost if I do the install myself?
How long did it take you do do the whole job? Putting the studs in the track seems easy enough. How hard is it to install the tunnel protectors? Do you remove the skid to do this? Thanks
