I have thought about this very subject and have posted about it in the past and have really had no responses to it.

The best thing that you could do is try a set of PIAA GTX bulbs or extreme white bulb -both of these bulbs have a lightly tinted(blue or purple) bulb globe. The only reason why I stated to use PIAA bulbs is, most of the other bulbs are not as high in quality and will burn out much quicker. Try to look and find what is called a performance bulb, what this means, is that it will produce a whiter/brighter light with only using the current load that it takes to illuminate the stock bulb, otherwise your hand warmers wont be as warm and you run the risk of melting the wire harness. I did not do as stated above(didn't know at the time) and have a "european white bulb" by BL Halogen in my sled that consumes the stock current amount and makes (so they claim)110/100w 3900k color of light and is noticably whiter and brighter. Hope this helps. T

I put a 100/55 in my 98 (lower amperage) there is a noticable, but not dangerous delay when the highbeem is turned on. its much brighter.

blue light is the color that is most glaring, so don't get tinted bulbs

I used the Xenon gas charged bulbs in both my srx's and vipers, they will give off a blue tint and they really help he nightime glare off the snow, the blue doesnt seem to give you the glare like the white does, you can get themat any advance auto parts, autozone etc. 55/60watt

Thx Mr. V I forgot to post about Xenon charged bulbs. T

thanks guys

do you know exactly the name and part number so i can find it somewhere off the net or buy it from canadian tire:)

yes make sure it's 55/60 i tried 100/90 one time & they were so dim (drawing to much power) unless i unpluged one of the bulbs.you will kill it with something like those.but the blue tint does look cool reflecting off the lense when the sled is shtu off.

can you see good with the blue tinten ones, and where did you get them im ordering them asap:)

hmmm thanks guys

yes they work good.but get the right wattage bulb's.i bought mine at auto zone or somthing like that.mine were called super white.xenon gas,,type h4 of coarse.

Just take one of your bulbs with you and go to Can Tire, match up the new one, they have them. Go with 55/60 as others said.

WHoa there was enough power to initially spark the ballast? ive heard a stock system didnt have enough to spark it and at that point put excessive stress on the stator

also piaas are awesome i have them in my car and love em

I added a small battery. After its ignited its only drawing 3-4amps or 35w. The problem is the charging circuit for the battery. I think I figured it out at the end of last year. But I have not been able to do the long term test.

tell me how it goes i was looking into this seriously last year, i figure im on the edge of having enough power to spark it as i have the 300watt dual bulb system.....

With the 300 watt system I think you should be able to do it no problem with a small battery. I believe the dual headlight sleds are already clean 12v dc. So I think you could add the battery use the charge coil to charge it and put the HID on a time delay relay. So the battery is hooked up for a length of time to warm the bulb then drops out and the stator powers the bulb.

Even that huge cap I had did not have enough duration to light the ballast effectively.

im swamped with exams this week ( in mechanical engineering) but after im done im gonna take a better look at this, i need to remove my entire wiring anyway to fix a rub underneath my motor so maybe i could do it then...
