I have a 98 SRX 700 and im having some power problems!!! i can ride on a snowy road all day long but if i hit a deep ditch and the hood goes under the snow it losses ALOT of power i tried to block the bottem vents but i started fouling plugs ...... what should i do??????

i dont understand how to do it iv read dozens of post on how to do it but i dont really get the servo motor and the 12 v deal could u explain in simple terms please thanks

theres tons of stuff on here for adjusting valves but heres how i do it....remove servo cover idle sled below 900 rpms which opens the servo motor then shut off sled mark servo motor with pen or marker....you dont have to do this anymore now that you have it marked....loosen the 2 bolts that hold the powervale cable to the powervalve housing...now take 2 2.5 mm allen wreches slide these in between the 2 housings adjust the cables so that the allen wrenches just slide in.....watch the servo motor pulley as it sometimes turns back and you have to use channel locks to turn it back to your mark...do all 3 then your done no applying 12v no pulling pipes simple and easy....

another thing that i found on my 98 msrx was same problems you had could never find it ending up changing my plug boot with some from napa....instant problem gone sled runs great in powder....i guess the snow was causing the spark to short to head then bog engine

I would suspect you're getting snow/moisture on the plug wires and coil. Go over your electrical to make sure it's sealed[where the plug wire goes into the spark plug caps, wires going into the coil, wire connecters etc.] use black automotive silicone to seal up any gaps if you have to.

There are a ton of threads on the deep powder bog. I have one going in the mountain riding section, lol. I have used the search function and read every thread at least twice.

Here is what I recommend:
-Put in some sort of cold air vents in your dash. Mountain performance has them, and there is also slp flowrites.
-Turn off your carb heaters unless it is really super cold.
-Seal off all under hood air after you get dash vents put in. Only let the cold air from the dash go to your air box.
-I've read a few things about spark plug caps, but hadn't ever really heard of that curing the problem...until chevyracer68 mentioned it. That's all he changed, other than running with his carb heaters off 99% of the time. Certainly an inexpensive thing that I will be trying.

ok.... thanks guys is there any way to make the dash vent myself?? leave the air box??? and how would i go about doing this?? im tired of this bogging stuff
lol

Bogging

This worked for me. It's not an exact science. IMO, the problem is steam. Solution is in cold o/s air. hope this helps you.

Sorry, wrong pic. Wanted to show you the duct tape and the dash vents.

So does this happen only when you throw it into a ditch and when you come out onto the trail/road does it clear up and runs strong again!!!
Most likely you are plugging your exhaust port off and snuffing the engine out...mountain/deep powder sleds have deflecter shield on so the exhaust can vent...my 2cents...also try and get someone to walk you throught the steps to cleaning your power valves...witch oil you use, you may need to clean them more than once a season...

They are SLP vents. As you can see they make a size that fits the guage holes. I drilled the other smaller 4 into the deck. All the vents provide air to the under hood area. I use duct tape to prevent sno getting in. Depth and type of snow determines where and how much tape I use. Not an exact science but it works for me. Hope this helps you.

The airbox is directly under them. No ducting required. Just drill the hole and snap them in. Done to of them this way. One with 3 vents and one with 5. Ours were that simple. No jetting changes were necessary on these two sleds as they were still running stock jetting and were plenty safe for the temps they see.
