Yikes!
All I can say is that is plain stupid. Without limiter straps you are definatly asking for a broken W arm. Basically the limiter straps allow you to control the weight transfer during accerlation and braking to keep the ski's on the snow. The tighter the straps results in more ski pressure and less transfer. If you don't have any, then the w arm is absorbing all of the shock and you will have to get completly off the gas to get the ski's to stay on the snow.

It will be a lot easier if you pop the skid out - sound like you may want to go thru it and check the bushings in the arms while you're at it, too. ProAction skids are easy to get out and in - the secret is to take the bolts out of the transfer rods. This allows the skid to be maneuvered around in the tunnel much easier. Having a buddy help you will make a big difference too. When putting it back in start with the bolts at the front of the skid and work your way back. Slides are easier to put on this way too IMO.
You may want to check out pioneer performance as they have a complete bushing kit available for like $55-65.
Hope this helps you out,

Congrats on the Viper btw! Got pics??

I dont have any pics yet but i bought the sled from one of the members if you do a search for jerff22 he posted some pics a few weeks back when he put it for sale, and thanks for the info . oh by the way the last owner said he put all new bushings in the skid but i will make sure when i take it out to install the straps.

Yeah they wear out, so it's a good idea to check them.

xsivhp decided to take off my exhaust to give it a new coat of high temp paint can i reuse the metal exhaust gasket for the exhaust manifold i priced a new one and they go for about 60 $ here in Canada?

As long as it's not all cobbled up you can re-use them no problem.

I dont want to sound stupid but what do you mean all cobbled up when i took off the manifold the gasket was a two part metal gasket and seemed to be pretty straight and clean did not take it off left it sitting on the studs was to eager to get at that rusty manifold.

I mean still in good shape.

Yes they seem like they are the original gasket and the manifold has never been taken off so i think i will take my chances and reuse thanks for your input and information.

I'd try re-using it too - if you need to you can get one later - not that hard to swap out.

Just use a bit of slicone exhaust sealant!
I just use a bit of high temp silicone exhaust sealant on the joints when I put my pipes back together. Make sure you get the kind that is removeable ie you can crack it apart by hand.

i dont mean to hi jack the thread but on my srx mountain the guy before me had the straps really loose because he said when playing in powder loose straps= easier to get on top, is this right? another thing when i tryed her out in the field the other day it doesent take much throttle and im dooing a wheelie, now would this be because of the limiter straps or because i have a 141 inch track with 2 inch paddles and just too much traction?thanks guys

Well you aren't hurting for traction depending on the usual snow conditions you are riding in, tightening up your limiters will definetly take out the wheelie effect. The nice thing about the pro-action limiters is they are infinetly adjustable within the range of the threads, no hole 1, hole 4 like on some other skids (M10 being one) so you can fine tune your weight transfer to any desired amount with the turn of a nut.
