Just did this myself this afternoon, you need to pull the clutch, the air box, carbs, power valve motor can be left connected. The exhaust. I pulled the recoil and discovered that the flywheel was loose!, the frame bracket on the right side (6 bolts). The antifreeze was drained from the hose running to the carbs, right side, placed it in the body's exhaust outlet and drained into gallon ice cream container. You will need to disconnect the large coolant hose, I did this from the overflow reservoir and the oneon the coolant manifold above the carbs. You have to disconnect the vacuum line to the fuel pump as well as the oil line running from the oil pump to the fuel pump, and then the oil line to the pump from the oil tank. Oil control cable from the throttle to the oil pump, I left it connected to the pump. Then there are three electrical connectors, 4 mounting bolts in the front and two in the rear, and don't forget the clutch alignment dogbone on the inner right side of the frame, takes about a 6mm metric hex. Motor is pretty heavy, I used a comealong suspended from a truss in the garage and then moved the sled chassis out of the way. I didn't have any particular engine work I planned on doing, but need to track down some electrical problems and though this would be a good opportunity to clean out the inside of the belly pan. Also discovered that I had a coolant hose about to give out on me as well. Good luck.

Where was the issue with the coolant hose??? Can you see it with the motor still in? Also the wiring harness deal...can you see the potential rub with the motor in & fix it???

the coolant hose that was nearly rubbed through on mine was the one that comes off the water pump and goes up along the mag side of the engine... cannot say exactly whereabouts to look for a rub as my engines been out for a few months now lol and i forget. I do know that the rub is on a bend and it was rubbing on the motor so there would be a plac e to start, It would be quite obvious if I had of ran my hand along the hose.
Lots of guys will fix the wiring harness with the motor in, if you do a search on here im sure you'll find a tonne of information about it, as far as i know they simply run a wire along under the motor and then pull the harness and the wire allows them to fish the harness back through after the repair is completed.

as far as the wiring goes had problems with my 98 srx headlight and gauge flickering.....what i did was unhook the connector on the bottom side of the hood to gauges next take the wire beside the airbox right side next to the carbs then pull this harness to pull the wires from under the engine i didnt have to hook a rope to it was enough lenthg...you will see where it rubs......next fixed the broken wires with solder heat shriked....then i took some small fuel hose and zip tied it to the area where it rubbed....pulled harness back to hood hook up and good to go....ran for 2 years no prob

The damage I found to the coolant hose appeared to have come from the front right side motor mount. I have is the past repaired the hose but cutting out the damaged part and connecting the two pieces with a hose connector and clamps believe 1' or 1 and a quarter will work, I used the metal in lieu of plastic, there is a coil inside the hose, evidently to prevent it from collapsing. I cut the coil to remove some that would interfere with the coupler. I have yet to put everything back together to see if there will be any interference. Looks like another vulnerable area is above the mag where it may be rubbing against the bolt on frame member. If this doesn't work only alternative is to buy the hose, I haven't priced it yet, but I'm guessing in isn't cheap.
As far as pulling the harness without taking out the motor, that wire has about three clamps, or retainers on the belly pan, and it's a good opportunity to clean out underneath thoroughly.
