I've noticed on pics that the front rods on some sleds are parallel with the ground, while others are raised in the middle maybe 15 deg. What id the difference here? Spring preload? Modded mounting?? Sure would seem better to have the angle (more susp).

Shocks that came on sx and srx are ajustable unlike the vmax shocks. They are also mounted lower on the frame with a little bracket.

sxr has a multi rate spring makes it softer for the first few inches of travel. most v max's have a single rate that makes them sit higher. also sx srx are shorter travel this will make a difference too. it all comes down to spring rate, preload and travel this will all make a difference where the sled sits
