Was just wondering how big of a riser you can put on an 02 viper without have to extend the cables. Also while im asking is it a pain the extend the cables so you can put in a large riser?

If you use the search function in the SRX/Viper section you will find 4-5 pages on this topic. Most people will tell you 2" max with stock cables. Some people have gone up to 3" with stock cables. G.B.

i have gone 3" with no cable changes, but i had to extend all the wiring which is very tedious.
I add a 3" riser to my viper and I changed out the brake cable for a SS longer line. Everything else worked, you may have to re-route some stuff. I did not have to re-wire.

I had a three inch riser on my 02 viper......I had a few problems with pinched wires.....Nothing major but still a pain.....It is worth just getting the longer cables.....They make a riser set up that is adjustable by ROX......I have it and i would highly recomend it....I am 6'3and 1/2 I love the height....i depends on your budget and height really......I noticed a huge reduce in fatigue when i had my 3 inch riser as well.....Definitly worth it.....A few pinched wires but nothing major.....

3.5" Rox riser on 02 Viper ER
I just added the Rox 3.5" pivoting riser on an 02 Viper ER, and am still working through it. The wiring is definitely short, and will require some splicing if you want to be sure not to pinch/pull apart the wires to heated grips and control blocks. I plan to splice in extensions and move pinblocks under the hood to clean up the area around the riser so I can use the Rox pad. For the brakes, I needed to loosen lever block and slide inward 1", and also disconnect the brake line from the caliper and re-route around a harness near bottom of oil tank for a straighter shot to the bars. I will likely replace/extend the line as it is still very tight at max turn. The oil-pump and throttle cables are also stretched to the limit when you turn bars both all the way right and left, so I need to determine fixes there too.....2-2.5" would likely have been much easier......

Wow it's hard to believe there is that much difference between Vipers. i put a 3.5 rox pivot riser on mine and just had to re-route the brake cable, wires still have plenty of stack in them and everything still works turning all the way both ways.I wonder if it is because yours is a ERmdbauer62 said:I just added the Rox 3.5" pivoting riser on an 02 Viper ER, and am still working through it. It may be. The harnesses may be slightly different, but one thing I noticed right away was how short the wiring was to the bars. The jumper connecting the right and left grip warmer was actually tight across the bars (see pic). I tried every variation of wire routing and still had stretching when turning the bars left all the way. I was able to re-route the harness and pull the wires up higher towards the bars, but just cannot get enough. Also see the pic for the brake line. It is stretched tight even when the bars are straight !
Do you see anything I could have done differently?
