I have a question to all the sxr riders out there. The question I have is you sled really hard to pull start?
I had the carbs cleaned the middle of the short season and of course it would start on or around the thrid pull. Then sit for a month and takes around 15 - 20 pulls before it would start. I also tried starting it last weekend and 20 - 30 pulls and no start(quit I got frustrated).
This really gets my goat, because my brother has a Ski-doo and it took six pulls and it started.

That is typical for the yammie triples. SRX,s are worse.

not typical for mine.....started on second pull with bad gas....and that was sitting all summer..
Glad to hear that I am not the only one have a sore arm trying to start the stupid thing. I remember it started right away when I first got it, but it all went down hill the second year.

Try choking the machine out the night before it should start to pulls the next day.

I go through more plugs than I should, but mine starts great with new plugs. The first thing I'd do is replace them and you should be set. Also, I had an issue with rust on my magneto? a couple years ago and after it was cleaned up my spark was much better.

My 700 is a bugger to start the first time in the fall, but after that it goes on the second pull when it is cold.

mines really hard to start at the beginning of the season when it comes out of storage, lol 20 pulls would be a great understatement.... but after the initial startup it seems to always like 3 or 4 pulls depending on the temperature outside... funny thing is my old v-max 4 starts in 1 or 2 pulls no matter what the condition, it can sit for a year and it will still start with 2 pulls lol

I just pulled my carbs to change jets after sled sat since March without being started. Guess what. No fuel in float bowls & nothing ran out of the fuel supplly hoses like it normally would. I think it either evaporates or slowly drains back after time. You have to pull it that many times to get the fuel pumped up there. Took me about 20 pulls then it was fine. Mine is a Viper but it should be the same. I have had prior sleds that did this but I never check the carbs first to prove it before I pulled 20 or 30 times first start of the fall.

Only when it s warm have to hold throttle to start ,but when cold fires right up.
Thanks for all the tips I will try a few this weekend and see what works.

Try a "LITTLE" gas ,a teaspoon full in one or two cyls to help pull gas from tank.

we were getting so much snow the other day (none stayed) that I got anxious and wanted to go sledding... I pulled so much that I got frustrated and when I went to open the hood to see why it wouldn't start, there was no motor under the hood. Perhaps you have the same problem??? lol
In ALL seriousness they can be VERY hard to start. Normally a tablespoon of gas in each cylinder helps get it going

No problems with mine, but I don't let it sit all summer. I start mine every 2-3 weeks and it starts on the second pull every time. There aren't many differences between our motors either... Also I have no issues with cold starts.

Off season, I generally pour a few ounces of premix in the airbox before attempting to start the sled. Go to full choke most times it will take off with a couple of pulls, I am not going to rip on that thing 20X anymore. When riding season arrives, I don't generally have the problem, and when warm usually one pull to two at the most. I don't know whether the fuel evaporates out of the bowl, but that seems reasonable.

I had the same problem last year with mine. Would start fine cold but trying to start after warm I would have to hold the throttle or it would die. Is that normal?

That is not right, may not be anything serious, but could be something with the reeds, or even something in the carbs. I would clean the carbs up and check those out.
As far as starting the sled up, if you have not already done so turn off the ignition and pull it 3 or 4 times, turn the ignition on and pull she should sputter a couple more pulls and your usualy good to go.
