Can I run a 2 or 3 degree advance timing key in my ported 02 srx for trail riding? Or will I have to worry about engine problems? Also will this give me much of a performance gain?

My buddy has run an advanced timing key in his 99 SRX for a couple of years. His sled has been ported too. He never had any problems with it. Others will tell you that it will created alot more heat in the midrange which might require you to pull up the needles one clip plus jetting. He trail rides this sled everywhere.
As far as performance goes he switched back to the stock key and didn't notice much of a difference speed wise in a radar run but with the advanced key, the sled had a much stronger bottom end and midrange pull.

You gain low end & mid but it will cost you some top end. Also your engine will not be as tolerable for bad fuel.
are u sure that you loose on top ....
