Not use to the yamaha suspension this viper is my first yamaha last sled was a polaris indy 500 and the two rear idler wheels has a threaded cross shaft that used bolts to tighten and set the track, was going over the viper this afternoon and it looks like it has a shaft with a female thread on one end and a male thread on the other side with a nut and cotter pin is this normal? :?:  :dunno:

let me try to under stand this & tell you the best i can..ummm..on the brake handle side in the back should be the nut with the cotter pin?take out cotter pin, loosen nut & hit the shaft with a hammer this will loosen the shaft & in the back-behind the track is the adjusters.you will need a 14mm-or 9/16ths deep well socket to adjust. & when adjusted to spec reverse procedure to tighten everything back up...did i understand the question right?? & does it help at all?

Yes you did but the nut with the cotter pin is on the throttle side dont think it really matters but just wanted to make sure that the bolt with the cotter pin was normal an d thanks for the info it really cleared things up .

It does matter!

You will want to take out the rear shaft and put it through so you can put the nut and cotter pin on the brake side (ie left side of sled while sitting down). Also you will want to make sure the third wheel in the real axle assembly is closest to the nut and cotter pin and not on far side.

Can you explain why?

With the nut on the throttle side it will loosen as the wheel turns forward, on the brake side it will tighten. Maxdlx
