I am getting 4 new OEM 8DN belts.I will scrub them good first in hot water and soap and then you put on sled and put in at least 50 miles of no pinning or WOT.You vary the speed up and down, but don't go past 50 mph.Is this about right. Can belts be broken in properly even if I have a HC set-up in my clutch.I ask this because the HC's will clamp the belt more and would this be good for break-in.Could break-in the belts on my 600 SXR first or does it matter really.I want to do it right so the belts will last longer.

Do exactly as you said and you will be fine. That is what I do with every new belt I get, and that's not very many because I haven't blown one in YEARS. I put at least 4,000 miles on each belt before replacing.

ive had 3000 on a belt but it ended up blowing my secondary clutch. it was too skinny and cought the ramps thta the hylix bolts to and riped it off. so after that i decided to replace every year or so

I use the 89L belt in my 600XTC.

I needed a new one a few years ago the winter after I bought the sled. The one that was on there had a few thousand miles on it adn the belt was a bit too narrow. Since I was at the Yamaha dealer in the Soo anyway I picked one up and drove the rest of the day on a belt right out of the package. Nearly 2000 miles later it is still looking great.
I did wash it the spring before last before storing it but besides that nothing. I think the break it in slowly and don't hose clamp it off the line goes a long way toward keeping them for years.

On a side note it is a good idea to make sure the track will spin (not locked up with ice from the day before) before trying to move the sled.

Your a scenic rider are you? Is THAT GOING DOWNHILL with out the throttle being pressed? Just playin with ya!!!!!! But is that the case or what!!!!  I have to know, because when I come down to ride with you,I'll have to put a restricter on my throttle!!   Can you dig it?

I am not working today and am getting real bored around these parts. There is still no sign of snow and I have been on this site for the last 6 1/2 hours.I have to go outside and kick the dog or something. Maybe I'll go start up the SRX and TEAR UP MY LAWN AGAIN!!!!!! I wander if the grass will come back from the last time I did that.
