Hey guys, I am having the same powder bog that happens on all srx's. I spent a couple of hours reading up on what people are doing to change it. I would like to make a snow deflector but don't know what size to make it. I know I could go buy one, but whats the fun in that.LOL so if someone could shoot me some demensions on theres it would be great! I am looking for the width, how far it sticks down off of the body? Futhermore, how much of the exhaust it covers, I am worried about back pressure. The other question I have is has anyone ever ripped one off? Or squished it? I ride on the river a lot up here and there are ice ridges that I have to go over sometimes. I am worried that I could bend it into the exhaust and have a hell of a time getting home.

I put one on my 98 MM. It is the stock one off of a 2002 MM, not sure of the dimensions but it should fit your machine. The stock one on the 98 worked good until I put pipes on, then it would bog when pulled over on the right side. The only time I pulled a rivet out was unloading it off the truck, other than that I'm happy with it.

I made one up quick for my SXR.We had this big snowstorm last year and the snow was deep, but the SXR just wouldn't open up and bogged when I pinned it.So I had this material from my deck, solid decking. It is 1 " thick to begin with which was ok.I just took it to my mitre saw and tapered it with out cutting my fingers off.I made it I think about 3-4 inches wide approx.I bolted it to the bellypan just ahead of the exhaust opening, painted it blue also. And it worked,I could go riding in 2 feet of powdered snow without bogging and the motor would not go up and down with the rpm's.Being it is solid,it can't be dented in also,I gave it a good taper back also.I was a quick fix and it works. My SRX has one already on it from factory.

01 mtn max or 03 -05 mtn viper, $15 retail, doesnt fit perfect, but after 4 years thrashing about the trees and such out west, still there. two rivets, dont bother with the factory backing hardware, just back the rivets. find it on the yamaha online microfische. cant remember where, its a bitch to find the pt #. this worked for me. installed this is on a 98 srx, stretched to 151.
