Looking for a clutch kit for my 1995 vmax 600. I rebuilt it with stock parts last year but im still looking for more out of it. Hauck and bender both sell kits for it, which one should i go with? or will there not be a noticeable diff in them. Any other suggestions ??
Also i would like the sled to be a little bit louder. Can i cut the can off and weld a piece of pipe in its place?? would rejetting be necesary? if so what would be recomended?
One last question, would there be any gains going to twin Uni filters? the factory airbox just gets filthy and i dont want my carbs to get full of shit. Also what would need to be done with the jetting if i did this.

paragraph one - Do your research on both companies and their kits (obviously your doing that) then decide which one to go with.
paragraph two - Try and find the Yamaha GYT-R pipes... dont go hacking your stock pipe apart... unless you know what you are doing thats probably the worst thing you could do next to runing your sled without the pipe in the first place.
paragraph three - KEEP YOUR AIRBOX!!! It was designed with a little more engineering than you think to keep your sled running right. Uni filters will make your sled very finicky with jetting and will either cause you to have to run super rich or it will burn down from running lean....trust me on this one, I found out the hard way, lol.
I dont mean to sound like a dick or anything, just hoping you wont do what I did and have to rebuild a motor lol.

Clutching is arguably the best thing you can do to your sled as it let you get your power to the ground.
With that being said it should also be the last thing you do as it needs to be tuned to your power.
So if your going to add pipes or perform any other mods you will want to save your money on the clutchkit until you get your mods done then get the kit for them.
One note on those pipes you will definetly need to jet the sled for them and make sure its right or it will blow up. They add a lot of power however and i absolutley love mine, but take the time to get them right and you will be happy.

Talk to Turk on the clutch set up, and look for a 96 600XT pipe....

Here is a good read as to why "not" to remove your airbox. There are exceptions which are explained.
There is a good explaination of how pipes and airbox work together.

I have ran 45-39 helix and and the stock weights that combo works pretty darn good.

No problem man.. I blew my dads 94 600 up just outside of Ontonagon a couple years ago. It had Uni filters and it was jetted perfect for 20 degrees and sunshine. It didnt like running at 25 and cloudy with moisture in the air and would foul plugs constantly. When I blew it up it was 15 degrees and very dry, bitter cold if you would.
