I will guarantee any one who purchased Ohlins shocks, even if they go 4 miles a year never exceeding 15 MPH will boast about their performance. I am not saying they are not a superior shock, just most people only feel the difference in their head. OK I am ready for all you guys on how you have exceeded the performance level of the stock ones.

I'll be first - the ohlins on my viper are night and day over either the stock or revalved viper shocks. You do notice a difference, no matter what level of rider you are.
On the SRX I'm not sure of the difference, bit I know there is a reason that when you see a limited build $60000 crotch rocket there is a reason that it has the ohlins on there.
I'd love to go put a couple hundred miles on with a non believer on rough trails. Even a smooth trail with big holes in them get sucked up by the ohlins.
I think most people realize when you spend a pile of $ on good shocks that whoever is going to buy your sled will want them for free so you're better off pulling them of to sell separately and sell the stockers on the sled.
Bottom Line - Ohlins Rule.

My point exactly

What is your point, exactly? Are you saying I only think so because I have them. That's not the case at all.Yamahasrx700 said:My point exactly
I've ridden 02 vipers with the stock shocks and with the revalves. Putting Ohlins even of just in the front transforms a Viper into an entirely different sled. Unless you had ridden the two you wouldn't really know the difference.
Am I saying go out and pay $1000 for them NO. I would pick some up used if the opportunity arose and the deal were fair though.
Ohlins makes excellent shocks - and you don't have to be a racer to notice the difference.

You are seeing moreof them for sale because they don't transfer from old to new anymore. I have tansfered my ohlins from sx to viper to warrior, but that is the end of the line for them as the next sled will have the new suspension. Also with companies like ad bovin making the zx2 and fast making the airwave, people are leaning towards a whole different sspension. If i could sell my ohlins for what they are worth, I'd be getting the zx2 skid too. Some people will say they put ohlins on and fel no difference, but they also never touched the adjustments. I have ridden both on the SRX and prefer the Ohlins. Not worth the money IMO, but I liked being able to change the adjustments depending on riding style for the day.
I can't guarantee anyone else's experience. If I could I would probably know it all.

What should we be budgeting for a good used set of Ohlins these days. I have an 03 Viper and an 04 Warrior and was wondering if it is better to put Ohlins on one versus the other or would I see the same improvement on both. I would guess that the Viper will see greater results but what the hell do I know!

Shocks!
I was going to buy ohlins in the rear of my sled until I realized I could buy a whole zx2 skid for the price of the ohlins. So I decided to do that, since I was afraid to spend any money on the stock suspension. I'm going to get fox float's made up for my viper. I hear they are step up on the ohlins and you can raise or lower the front of your sled by adding or removing air pressure. Then the sled will really rock.

I think the ohlins would make more of a difference on an A arm type sled such as a warrior or apex. I only got the ohlins because of the extension for them. Im being honest, im not one to say that they are better because they look cooler or just because i have them. The front end of an srx rides crappy anywhere but a smooth trail or lake, and if your riding on that your shocks arent going to matter that much.
shocks
I have been running Ohlin's on every sled I own. To me the diference is night and day. I had them all the way around on my 780 01 SRX. Now I have them on my 04 Warrior. Ohlin's up front and Ohlin's on the M10 in the rear. Best trail cruiser I have ever ridden. Ohlin's just don't ever seem to fade and soak up the bumps so much better than stock shocks. Plus you don't have to worry about rebuilds for quite sometime.I think they are worth every penny. Hell they even look cool when the sled is parked. LOL.

I definitely noticed a difference in ride quality-- not so much with the fronts but more for the rear. She sucks it up much better than the stockers. Plus what nysrx said-- they last wayyy longer. But I just HAD to have that new blue ZX2! LOL

They do take some abuse, ive pounded my sled so hard that my belly pan is now cracking up in the shock tower area, and snapped 2 chains on Michigan trails. gotta love them trails w00t!
What I like about my Ohlins is the fact that they are adjustable. When the trails are flat stiffing them up and it handles like its on rails. And You can diffenetly feel the difference. When the shocks are set stiff you feel it in the handlebar and arms a lot more when you do hit the big bump. When the bumps are bigger click the shocks down to the softer side and the big hits go away and so does the razor sharp handling. They are very nice shocks, I love them

Ditto to what johnny said, but then add in the rebound adj on all of the shcoks, and you just made a great ride even better. It takes time and trial and error to figure them out, but once you understand what is what, they flat out out perform the stockers. Maxdlx
I have not been on here much, but have been around for a long time. I have ohlins front and rear on my 04 viper. After a little tuning, there is no comparing stock and ohlins. The rear made much more difference then the front, by far. I can hammer down through 2-3' whoops and just keep the skis up. I have around 1900 miles on the ohlins, 2800 on the sled total. They were a lot of money, but my back likes them.
