Hi guys, this is my 2nd post on this forum, been a loyal polaris guy forever, but my dad just picked up a 97 venture 600dx.
It has th stock steel skis with factory skins on it, and I remember reading back in 97-98 that these skis really sucked and darted, and just did not have enough bite.
what factory skis besides the newer all plastic proaction yamaha skis will bolt on?
I have heard skidoo rev, and all polaris plastic skis simply bolt on, Is that true?
since the factory skis need carbides, I would rather buy new carbides for better skis.
If so, what recommendations do you guys have for ski remedies?
I have seen the shim idea here, but I want a newer looking ski as well.
also, if anyone know of any for sale, I would love to hear what you have. drop me a PM.

Welcome to TY. I had a 98 Vmax SX and I added C&A Pro Adv skis to the sled. They handle great and look great. Check out Richmotorsports for a great deal with carbides.

Get a hold of Allen Ulmer, www.ulmerracing.com or srxspec on here. He has some slydog trail skis that are old inventory for sale at a price better than what you will find used man skis for. That and they are a way better handling ski. Maxdlx

I recently aquired two 1997 SX's, that needed skis. Since I bought the sleds in September, I've purchased three sets of the GYT plastic stock skis--two sets for my sleds and a set for my Dad's XTC500. The most expensive pair was $100, and I bought them all off members of TY...They should be a huge improvement over the stock steel skis, and they bolt right up...
Incidentally, Yamaha contracted with USI for this ski design--they're just re-branded USI skis with a slightly modified loop design. I also managed to get two sets of Bergstrom carbides off ebay for them for $20 too.

thanks for the info.
yeah, I was looking for a deal around 100 myself for a pair, I would go slightly more if they had useable carbides on them.
is it really true that most other brands of skis will simply bolt up?
It seems that on ebay I can get factory polaris plastic skis for much less than the yami skis.
Short of my pulling a ski off my xc600sp and trying the polaris ski on the venture, there has to be someone that has tried this. plus my polaris sleds are up north, and the venture is in milwaukee area.
For me, it sould simplify carbide spares if the venture would accept the polaris plastic skis.

Slydogs are one of the reasons there are so many stock skis for sale on here. LOL Maxdlx

so, any update on what other brands of stock skis would fit?
i have seen a post or 2 about skidoo skis simply bolting on.
and is it true that newer 4 stroke stock yami skis simply bolt on?
