My buddy is putting a slp triple pipe kit on his viper. The instructions call for 8dn 10 weights. Just wanted to know if these are stock or if I need to have him get a set. Thanks, Blake

Weights

This can all be looked up in the technical pages but I'll give you the info anyway. Regular short track vipers were 8EK-00 weights. Mountain Vipers had the 8DN-10's. It all depends on what you are doing. If he has to buy weights anyway you might want to look aftermarket. Lots of weights work well in a viper. I have had great success with 8DN-20's, 8BU-10's, Heel Clickers and even 89L's. All depends on his weight riding style and what he has done to his sled. You might want to provide that info for someone like Turk on this website and ask for a suggestion. Or just provide the info for everyone on here and see what you get!

Thanks for the info. My buddy intends to put the slp pipes on his viper and clutch it to their recommendations. They call for the 8dn 10 weights in their instructions. Not sure if there is a better setup? He is really not a tuner. More of a get on and ride it guy. He also is going with no studs against my advice. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.......

If hes not willing to tune/adjust(clutchs and jetting), running pipes on a viper isnt really the best idea. Watching your piston/plug wash is something you want to keep an eye or youll POSSIBILY burn up pistons/cylinders. Use the search opition at the top of the page and search piped Vipers. Youll find tons of threads/post on the topic.

I completely agree. Piped vipers are rather finicky and require a watchful eye. You can definately get a clutch setup in there that you won't have to mess with often but in order to get any decent mileage you need to stay on top of the jetting and needle positions for conditions. If not he will either be pig rich or will risk burning down. Like I said they are a bit tempermental with timing that hot.
